Worldwide activities
MOL Group’s upstream operations expands in Central Europe, the CIS countries, Middle East and North Africa.
We focus on international exploration and production activities, building on the experience we have developed internationally in recent years, and will focus on projects in the development and production phases, in selected attractive core geographical regions.
In the development of MOL Group’s exploration and production portfolio we regard it as a priority to utilize to the maximum extent the resources available within the Group, also building on a very close cooperation with INA and its experts.
Long-term exploration and production in Hungary
MOL Group’s traditional core region is Hungary, where we are dominant player in all three upstream value chain segments (exploration, field development and production).It now seems that previous forecasts were too pessimistic: production in Hungary is still viable despite of all aspects of maturity. Field developments of new discoveries and the application of secondary and tertiary recovery methods significantly extend the production life of the old fields.

Production in Western Siberia - the ZMB field
Russia is the prime source of new reserves. MOL Group has production rights in Western Siberia, one of the most prolific petroleum producing areas in the world. The Zapadno Malobalik (ZMB) oilfield is operated by a Russneft/MOL jointly-owned venture. ZMB has become a favorable addition to MOL Group’s production portfolio. Discoveries in the foothills of the Himalayas – Pakistan
Operationally one of the biggest success stories is the Pakistan project – although MOL Group participation is rather low there. Our exploration success has already led to the field development of the gas discovery.Through its successful exploration track record, MOL Group has gained a strong reputation in Pakistan as an international operator.

A new exploration acreage adjacent to a giant field in Central Asia - Kazakhstan
MOL Group has a new, attractive exploration project adjacent to Karachaganak, one of the world’s largest petroleum fields. The Federovskoye Block exploration program includes completion of the deep pre-salt Zhaik well, spudding of a second pre-salt well and shooting a 3-D seismic survey over a third prospect.More
